Summary: The clay minerals from several holes are listed. A green K-Fe-smectite is described from the Mounds geothermal field of the Galapagos spreading centre. An Fe-montmorillonite from the Pliocene-Quaternary sediments of the East Pacific Rise near the Siqueiros fracture zone is also described.
