Summary: High quality 40Ar-39Ar and K-Ar radiometric ages of DSDP drilled rocks and some dredged rocks from the western Pacific area are summarized. Although the radiometric ages are generally in good accordance with the oldest fossil ages in the overlying sediments, they are generally considerably younger than the age of the ocean basement estimated from the magnetic anomaly pattern.
