Summary: This paper offers an overview of the Ocean Drilling Program, reviews the first year of scientific drilling, and describes future science plans. The latter include Leg 113, with both tectonic and paleoceanographic interests involving the Weddell Sea. Specific objectives of this leg, scheduled to be carried out Jan.-Mar. 1987, are outlined.
