Summary: Samples consist of a hydrothermal component and biogenic carbonates. The hydrothermal component is unchanged in time or space, and minimal diagenesis has occurred. The REE patterns are similar for sea-water, and increase with distance from the palaeorise crest. The REE increase in sediments deposited below the palaeolysocline.
